Business Process Flows - Can I use fields from a related entity in the BPF.

Hi,

I'm using a BPF on the Case entity (Dynamics 365 v9). On a given BPF stage, is there a clever way where I could use a field from a related entity in a step (i.e. so that I can ensure it is filled in before moving to the next stage). I don't have access to a Developer at this stage, so I'm looking for a solution which can be done with configuration. Anyone with a clever idea out there?

Thanks

check if you can include the checklist entity in the BPF in a stage, so you either create or select a checklist when you reach that stage, then the flow goes to check list entity, add the required fields from checklist in the BPF stage, once updated, next stage will move to case again.

Have a look at the Lead to Opportunity sales process flow to get an idea.

    Hi Diago,

Thanks for your reply. This is the scenario I'm looking to find a solution for. Lets say a user is in Stage 2 on the Case entity. I have a related entity called 'Checklist'. While a user is in stage 2 on the case, I want to use the BPF to ensure the user fill in certain fields on the case entity, AND also certain fields on the Checklist entity.

The reason I'm doing this is because a Checklist contains loads of fields, and I have numerous checklists depending on the category of the case.

The workflow scenario would still mean having the checklist fields on the case entity would it not?

    Thanks

check this, basically it is not possible to check directly, but you may achieve it by using workflow, having a flag on the case which will be updated when the field on the related entity is set.

    Hi Glasgow123,

Are you looking for something like this?

If it is OK, you only have to add a new stage and selecting the regarding Entity and needed fields, but if it is not OK, maybe you could add a workflow component:
