I need to charge a customer for miscellaneous services provided.

How to enter an invoice with no item number?

You can just enter non inventoried item with any name like Service Provided and quantity 1 with price and create invoice.

GP allows non inventoried items so you can add any service charges to your customer with qty1 and amount.
