How to import the archive folder in Outlook 365?

Posted on by

Importing an archive folder in Outlook 365 allows users to access older emails, calendar items, and other data. You can do this with a previous version of Outlook or a backup. There may be a need for this feature if, for example, the user's current Outlook account does not allow them to access critical information that might otherwise be available.

This guide walks you through importing an archive folder into Outlook 365, including any precautions and considerations you should consider.

  1. In Outlook, click on the "File" menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
  2. After selecting "Open & Export," choose "Import/Export" and the process will begin.
  3. Click on the "Import from another program or file" option and then click "Next."
  4. Then, select "Comma Separated Values" and click on the "Next" button.
  5. You can locate the location of the archive folder that you would like to import by clicking the "Browse" button.
  6. You will need to select the folder that you want to open and click the "Open" button.
  7. The next step will be to select the destination folder in Outlook where the items will be imported.
  8. Click on the "Finish" button.

Note: Make sure your archive folder is in .pst format and also if you want to import the folder from an older version of Outlook, you will need to use the Outlook Data File (.pst) option instead of Comma Separated Values.

However, you can use any Office 365 migration tool that can migrate PST files to Office 365. Especially if you don't have a lot of experience with technology.
