WHS Movement by template based on inventory status

Posted on by 35

Hi All,

I have a requirement to move inventory based on the inventory status. Here is the bussiness case: the inventory status of my licensplates is determined based on the results of a quality order. Using the movement by template flow, I want to determine a warehouse location based on the inventory status. Rejected licenseplates go to a rejection zone, while approved licenseplates go to the regular warehouse?

On the instruction locations for movement work, there is no way of checking the inventory status. Is there any way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eugen,

thanks for the suggestion! It is not the ideal scenario I had in mind, since the quality worker will have to use 2 separate menu items to create movement work.

    I did the following:

    1. Since the quality order did already change the inventory status, I don't need the display inventory status, nor default data.

    2. I created a menu item QMS put-away Good, with work template Good, and directive code good

    3. I created a menu item QMS put-away Bad, with work tempalte Bad, and directive code bad

The directive code ensures that I choose the correct instruction locations. I added a query to the work template that actually checks the inventory status. So allthough the quality worker has 2 menu items to create movement work, he won't be able to put a bad licenseplate to the regular zone, since the worktemplate won't be valid.

I do think do it would be a good feature to not only consider warehouse item codes during the inventory movement by template process, but also inventory dimensions of the inventory that is moved.

Hello, can you please try this crazy idea:

    1) Create 2 menu items for "Create QMS put-away Good" and ""Create QMS put-away Bad" with Display inventory status and the respective status hardcoded into the Default data. There you must be able to put a Directive code: Good or Bad.

    2) Create 2 location directives: one reacts to Good, another to Bad.

To make it fail-safe, inactivate "Mixed inventory statuses" on all target locations, both in the rejected zone and in the regular zone.
