Is there a way to automatically open a follow-up activity after a phone call or other activity is saved and completed? Right now we have to save and complete the activity, and then create a whole new follow up activity from scratch.

We could use workflow to achieve this requirement.
We could create an option set field with value "task, appointment, phone call, email" and determine which activity to create based on the value of this field.

But there may be a little cumbersome because we need to configure a workflow for each active entity not only phone call but also task, email, appointment...
