What are the specifications of the Computer that you need to download the VHD files?

And what is the difference between the existing versions?
Do I have to download the latest version?

Thanks

    Hello Ghazi,

Can you elaborate and explain us what you try to achieve and what AX/D365FO version you are interested in?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

As Microsoft brings updates to the d365fo, it periodically releases VHDs. If you don't want a special edition, it makes sense to download the latest release.

You should pay attention to two points.

There have been unsuccessful versions in between. Make sure the latest version is running.

I don't know which version was released last but VHD may be outdated. You may need to do some updates manually.

    I'm guessing you will install d365fo on-premises. System requirements;

    docs.microsoft.com/.../system-requirements-on-prem

I recommend reading the link below to understand the structure.

Finally, the link below may help during installation.

Currently I am not very interested in the version because the purpose of downloading the VHD files is to apply the information I learn
I want to know what are the differences between the versions
I just want to know the characteristics of the computer in order to download these files
    Thanks

    Moved to D365 Finance forum.

I would say that in order to run the VM with acceptable performance you should have at least 16 GB RAM and 4 CPU cores. Also it's good to have SSD disks.

Each new version contains many new features and fixes - you can look for D365 release letter and other documentation to learn more about new features.

You can download any version that is available for download (just try to download and you will notice that it's possible).

    Hi Ghazi,

For downloading the files, you only need disk space and an internet connection. Probably your question is about running the VM locally. In that case, the answer from Nikolaos would be the bare minimum. I have a laptop with 8 cores, 32GB RAM and an external SSD on USB-C. I allocated 4 cores and 24GB ram to the VM which is then running quite OK for me. A while ago, I had 16GB and allocated 10GB, but that was not performing well in my scenario.
