Changing Domain login from NT to email

Looking for insight from someone who may have already done this.

Our IT department wants to automate our users logins to OneDrive to automate syncing of documents. In order to do that they want to change the way we login to our domain. Currently we are Domain\UserName. They want to change that to username@domain.com when we log in.

My questions are about how this may affect our logins to Dynamics SL and Web Apps where we are using windows authentication. As noted above we currently log in to Web Apps with Domain\UserName. Will it accept username@domain.com?

How about Dynamics SL. Currently when we import a user, they show up in SQL as Domain\Username. Will we need to reimport all those users, or will they still authenticate properly.

And direction is helpful.

Thanks

Dave

I haven't tested this, but I'm pretty certain you could get web apps to work with email by editing the (post) Index function in the Home Controller code and the UIHelper.impersonateValidUser function. After validating the impersonateValidUser based upon email/password, you'll probably have to lookup the UserPrincipal.SamAccountName by the email address provided (the SAM needs to tie to your user id in pjemploy) and then change the model.WinUserID from the user supplied email to the SamAcccountName.  After that, the rest should function as normal.

However, I'm not certain if you can get this working with SL.

    Dear Dave,

I believe SL and webapps uses the domain/username format and changing that might not work. I don't know if the controller can auth with the domain user while logging in with an email address.

I'm sorry I'm not much help. Perhaps someone else in the forum might have some insight.  I know webapps only accepts domain username.

    Best Regards,
