Single Product Sales Order Line with Multiple Products on Picking List (Sales Kit)

I am looking for some instruction or insight on how to create a Product that when sold will be a single Line item but when picked, consists of multiple lines.  In short, I'm making a sales kit or bundle.

Specifically, I would want to have the order entry person put a single line on the Sales Order, confirm it, and be done.  Then when the picking list prints, the original item is not shown but rather the individual components are what are picked.  The packing list would have just the single item and the invoice would have just the single item.

I was thinking of using a BOM, but you have to explode the BOM Lines on the Sales Order to have them show up, which I would like to stay away from, unless that is the only way that this can be handled.  Another issue with exploding the BOM is that the individual pricing is then shown, and I would want to keep on the pricing for the single parent line item.

Any help or references would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi Ansel,

we have a very similar requirement, and we did some customization to make it. The customization is every time when entering the item in sales line, it explodes and adds the kit lines into sales line with price 0.00, and that original item sales line has the kit price. so user only need to enter 1 item in sales line to create the transactions of many kit items.

Sounds like it would work, I would love to try it.  Do you have any steps/settings/code or references to get me started?  Thanks!

    1. trigger the explosion when saving the kit item sales line.

    2. add the sub kit items sales line with price 0.00.

    Hope this steps help.

Thanks.  I have been hoping for a "Standard" AX solution but it looks like it will have to be custom built or purchased from a third party.
