Help with Italian VAT return configuration

I have been given the job of setting up a capability for completing annual Italian IVA / VAT setup in FinOps. Although I am proficient in the tax module generally, the Italian return is 22 pages long and just translating it will take days of effort. I have no doubt that 95% of it will be inappropriate for the business model, but I need to know for sure.

Does anyone have an Italian Reporting codes / VAT group / VAT code / Item group model or scheme they can share?

Hello Russell,

I can help with very minimal not much but I think this can add some value.

ITALIAN VAT is quite complicated, it has VAT books and the section into each topic.

Means if say example for Sales invoice, you need create a section and add that section into the VAT books.

And, most interestingly, there are pages in each settlement period, which must be sequential for each month.

I can suggest one thing- in your demo environment, just play with the book creation and all, it will give some idea.

I am sorry, when I left my last company I could not retrieve the setup I did there.

I would expect some other expert add some extra value in detail, which I could not.

Hello Russell,

I would recommend getting a local Italian D365FO consultant or tax expert involved.

Italy has very stringent VAT rules and it might be cheaper at the end of the day paying the expert rather than risking a fine.

Yes - that is why the local VAT representative asked me to do the configuration! I can do the work, but was hoping to reuse someone else's VAT configuration to save time.

here you can find some information regarding the annual VAT declaration for Italy: docs.microsoft.com/.../emea-ita-yearly-tax-communication.

There are also some example for codes to use.
