Admin User ID account - Best Practices

We recently upgraded to Ax2009, and for duing the implementation, the Admin user was assigned to one of the consultants using our active directory id accounts.  Now that we've completed the upgrade, I'd like to "free up" this admin user id account to not show the consultant as the alias.

It appears to allow me to change the alias name to a different user.

It's been suggested that the admin account be assigned to the user that is responsible for the administration of Ax.  That user is responsible for adding accounts/dimensions/companies, updating security, etc.  But, our practice has been to identify changes with that power user's userID, not "admin".  That way, if we have more than one power user, we can identify who made the changes.  In the past, we've never used the admin userid account other than to have it as a stand by in case the power user's password had to be reset.

So my question is - what would be best practice - how are you'all handling this?  What would be best for internal controls & SOX compliance?

Any help/feedback would be appreciated,

Thanks

I have seen cases where the Admin user record was mapped to a Domain Account that was subsequently deleted, and the AOS would not start as a result.  We had to surgically go into the Admin user record and insert the SID of the Domain\Administrator account to get the AOS back up.  I would recommend leaving the Admin attached to your Domain\Administrator account and never changing it.  You could then following a similar "best practices" policy with your domain administrators and your AX power users, which is to create separate accounts per user with distinct passwords.  This allows you to track and control those critical accounts individually.  Only use the AX Admin account, like your Domain\Administrator account, for emergency and/or extreme maintenance and never on a daily basis.
