Word Template for POP no longer works

I needed to make a minor tweak to our POP Word template. It worked great right up until the tweak, and suddenly I'm getting two errors. The first is a popup that says

"This file has custom XML elements that are no longer supported in Word. Saving the file will remove these elements permanently."

The second which follows says,

"Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions.

*Check the file permissions for the document or drive.

*Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space..

*Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.

(C:\...\POP Purchase Order Blank Form~...)"

I checked the permissions, and those seems okay. There is plenty of memory and disk space. I don't know how to open the file withe the text recovery converter.

I have tried reverting to previous versions, no luck. I tried removing and adding the source back on this and older versions. No luck. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions?
