Unable to delete alternate key form PROD as it is managed and not able to apply solution upgrade as it was handled by other organization and the solutins have many components.

HI All,

We have an alternate key created in Dev and same has been moved to prod. But the problem is in both the environment we have this Key as a managed components. Now we dont want this alternate key to be there in system for Lead entity as it effecting some WEB API to create duplicate entries for lead for the given alternate key combination attributes.

The previous CRM administrator originally created custom solutions in our Development environment, then exported them to our Production environment as Managed solutions.

At one point a database backup of the Development database with Unmanaged solutions was not saved as requested.

The Development environment was refreshed from a copy of the Production database (containing Managed solutions), overwriting the Unmanaged customization.

Our Previously Unmanaged solutions became Managed.

Please suggest on urgent basis.

    Hi NIsha Rana,

    Thank you for this post.

Let me start with the end of the message just to clarify a bit the behaviour.

In the past when you restored an environment on top of another environment that particular process used to delete the old backups, or at least that was my experience last year when I tried this, I'm not sure if the process is still the same with the current infrastructure.

Regarding Alternate Keys, they are indexes and they will create constraints on certain columns included in them to not have duplicate keys, so up until this point the behaviour is expected.

Furthermore based on my over 4 years experience with Entity Keys, those entity keys won't be able to update or perform delete processes unless you have the original solution which introduced them.

At this point the only supported way unless you still have your unmanaged solution introducing the key stored on your side, there will not be a supported way to fix this issue.

I will highly recommend raising a ticket to us in order to try to see if it is possible with help from PG to delete the key using some internal scripts as the only possible option, but I can not guarantee the outcome will be the one you expect.

Due to security considerations linked with the details of your environment this process unfortunately can not be done using a community forum post, but you can provide the link of this post for an easier understanding of the problem.

    Thank you for understanding!
