Analysis Mode - Export to Excel Row Limitation

I am trying to export the Item list that has nearly 3000 records to Excel after changing the view to Analysis Mode. I have added the vendor name field to the analysis mode using add columns from button (Vendor Number of Item => Name of Vendor). I tried 2 options to export to excel.

1. Right click on the middle of the analysis mode result and clicked Export > Open in Excel button. I could export only 200 rows.
2. Click Analysis Mode button at the top left. And clicked the Open In Excel from the drop-down. I could export only 100 rows.

Is there a way to export al items at once when we are in analysis mode with some related table fields added. Thank you.

    Hi,

In Analysis Mode, Excel export is limited (100–200 rows). This is by design for performance reasons.

Workaround: use Edit in Excel or Open in Excel from the normal list page (not Analysis Mode) with a saved view including your added columns. That will export all rows. There’s no setting to remove the row limit in Analysis Mode.

    Thanks

    Hi

Analysis Mode only exports a limited set of visible rows — it’s not meant for full-record exports. To get all ~3,000 items with vendor info, use standard Open in Excel from the Item List (with fields personalized) or create a Query/Excel report that combines Item and Vendor tables.

    Thanks

    Hi,
When using Analysis Mode in Business Central, the Open in Excel or Export options only export the currently loaded rows (usually 100 or 200). This is by design because Analysis Mode is intended for interactive analysis, not for full dataset extraction.
    From Microsoft’s documentation:
“Analysis mode is optimized for on-screen analysis and does not support exporting the entire dataset with added columns from related tables.”
    Read more here.

Is there a way to export all rows with related fields?

In my opinion, no, there is currently no built-in way to export all rows from Analysis Mode with related fields like Vendor Name. The export respects the current view and loaded rows only.

    Recommended alternatives

    1. Use Open in Excel or Edit in Excel from the original list page
      • Go to the Item List (not in Analysis Mode).
      • Use Open in Excel or Edit in Excel from the action bar.
      • This exports the full dataset (subject to Excel and BC limits).
    2. Create a custom query or report
      • Include the related fields (e.g., Vendor Name).
      • Export using Send to > Microsoft Excel Document (data only).
    3. Use Power BI or OData feed
      • For large datasets and advanced analysis, connect via OData or Power BI.

I simply tested that it can reach at least 3,000 rows. Is it caused by other reasons? Or try another page first.

    Hi,

The row limitation when exporting from Analysis Mode is a known constraint in BC. The current behavior caps exports at around 100–200 rows, depending on the method used and the browser’s memory handling. This limitation is tied to how Analysis Mode renders data in the client, not the actual dataset size.

    Here’s a clean path forward:

To export all 3000+ records with related fields (like Vendor Name), you’ll need to bypass Analysis Mode and use one of the following alternatives:

    • Use the “Edit in Excel” feature from the standard Item list page. This pulls the full dataset via the Excel Add-in and includes all fields available in the page source. You can add Vendor Name via personalization or page extension.
    • Create a custom query object in AL that joins Item and Vendor tables, then expose it via Web Services. You can then export the full dataset using Power BI, Excel, or OData.
    • Use the “Send to Excel (data only)” option from a report or query page. This exports raw data without layout constraints and supports larger row counts.
    • If you’re using BC on-premises, check the server setting Max Data Rows Allowed to Send to Excel. You can increase this limit via configuration.
    • For cloud environments, the export limit is tied to browser memory and client-side rendering. There’s no current setting to override this in Analysis Mode.

I have made a Analysis view for the Page "Posted Sales Invoice Lines" for a period of one month. The Total lines I can see on the Analysis mode is 817. When try to export in excel, the first time I got 102 lines, then 2nd attempt - 217 lines, 3rd attempt-415 lines, 4th attempt-715 lines. Also the lines exported are not matching with the row nos of analysis view, it exported randomly. I think there is something related to refresh issue. Not sure of the behavior how the Analysis works.

    Hello,
No, not really. Analysis Mode is not meant for full export of all rows with added related fields; Microsoft Docs says the Excel export from Analysis Mode reflects what you currently see on the screen, so when you add something like Vendor Name from a related table, you can hit these partial export limits instead of getting all 3000 items. If you need the full list, use Open in Excel from the normal Item List page, but if you also need related-table data like Vendor Name in the same file, the proper fix is a small custom query/report/page extension that includes both item and vendor fields, or export Items and Vendors separately and join them in Excel.
