Wrong inventory cost after PO price correction

hi

  • i created a Purchase Order (PO) with the wrong price in Dynamics 365 F&O. received the correct quantity and then sold the items. Later, i corrected the PO price and posted the vendor invoice.

  • Now The vendor invoice is correct. The inventory cost wrong because the goods were sold before the price correction.

    •
can be fixed be adjustment somehow?

    Hi,

Yes, it can be fixed, but not automatically. You need to adjust inventory or GL because the sale happened before the cost correction.

If you want, I can tell you the exact journal steps based on your costing method (FIFO, weighted average, or standard).

Moved from Integration, Dataverse, and general topics forum to Finance | Project Operations, Human Resources, AX, GP, SL forum. Title changed from "wrong price". Please pay more attention to these things.

    Hi 7asan,

Can you tell us what inventory costing model you are using for this item? If it can be corrected and how depends on this. In case you are using an actual method like FIFO, LIFO, or Weighted Average, you can use the periodic inventory job for Recalculation or closing the inventory.

    Hi,

You can execute the inventory adjustment from the following link. The system will automatically post the adjustment to your COGS account based on the price correction in the purchase order invoice.

You can also post the inventory adjustment through the wizard. The details are provided in the Microsoft documentation.

Note: In the case of Moving Weighted Average, the system posts the adjustments automatically.

    Cheers,
    Burhan
