So I closed out the FY but the beginning balances information for my BS accounts are not correct. Please HELP!
Do you have a backup? Can you do a restore? Are all B/S accounts wrong? Did you check that all B/S accounts were marked as B/S accounts and likewise for the P/L before you closed the FY?
Yes, all BS accounts are wrong. The period balance in the beginning balance line is correct but the totals were brought over from the previous FY.
So it SHOULD show (for example: Debit = $4M, Credit = $0, Net Change = $4M, Period Balance $4M
But instead, it is showing: Debit = $11M, Credit = $7, Net Change = $4M, Period Balance $4M
Can I reverse the historical year and do the year end closing again? will that mess up anything in this FY? I assumed that the accounts are all marked as needed since this is not the first year end closing. Is this a process that has to be done each fy closing? If so,
In this case a picture is worth a 1000 words. Can you send screen shot of account summary for one of your balance sheet accounts.
As well Richard asked about the P/L accounts. Are they correctly configured?
The Account maintenance from B/S and P/L account would be good as well.
Yes, I forgot the later versions of GP allow you to reverse the fiscal year-end close. After reversing correct all your B/S accounts, perform a backup and close again.
There isn't anything wrong with the Balance sheet accounts though......I pulled a chart of accounts and they are all showing correctly as BC account types.

I would reverse the closing and try again after doing a backup. It would be helpful to have a test company to try this in.
Thank you. I'll try that. I also discovered that I didn't set up the new FY before closing the recent FY.
Thank you! I was able to fix the issue by going to Utilities-->Financial-->Reconcile and refresh.
