Bypassing Entity Refresh list action and adding entity manually

(0) ShareShare

The refresh entity list automatically disables change tracking in combination with batchjob exporting.

We find this to be a cause of great concern , cause this may well lead to potential data-loss , data inconsistency and general mayhem with customers relying on the process of incrementally exporting data.

Is there a way to manually enter a entity WITHOUT having to refresh the entity-list itself?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi blom0344,

I can understand your concern while Microsoft recommend to refresh entity list after the version update or releases related to the custom entities so that entity list will get updated with new entities or entity changes.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../data-entities

You can try to add the entity manually also by clicking on "New" on DMF > Data entities and add entity that you have created and updated the solution with. Then add "Target entity" name so "Staging table" and "Entity" name will be populated.

P.S, If you do not get the entity manually, you need to refresh entity list.

Okay, but then what happens if the entity list is refreshed some time later. Does the manually added entity stay 'available' or is it lost?

    Hi blom0344,

It is better to test it on your box. I have already tested in my development box and the entity is still available since it is existed a export data project and therefore refresh entity list cannot delete it.

Had the opportunity to test this in an acceptance environment. Seems to work as you described.

    Cheers!
