consolidate loadlines for same itemID

Scenario:

we have 2 sales orders for the same customer / same delivery address

both sales orders have a line with the same itemID.

SO 001   5x item X

SO 002   10x item X

Using Advanced Warehouse management i am able to combine these 2 sales orders in one shipment and one work to pick the sales lines.

But I need an additional level of consolidation....

I also want to consolidate the shipment (load) lines with the same itemID.

So instead of one work with two picking lines (1 line to pick 5x item X and 1 line to pick 10x item X) i want to have one work with only one picking line to pick the total qty of 15 x item X.

Any thoughts ?

    Hi Henk,

It's not possible to consolidate Load lines for different sales order lines, and probably not advisable to try, because each Load line contains a link to the single Sales order line which is responsible for its creation (Lot Id / InventTransId).

As you are probably finding, this can lead to the creation of multiple Work lines on a single Work Id for the same item. You might have more luck consolidating work lines for the same item (Status/Batch/Serial/Unit etc.) in to one instruction on the mobile device. If you use the standard Cluster pick functionality (and create a Cluster pick containing only a single Work Id), AX will actually do this for you.

    Hi Guy,

I have tested the cluster pick option. I have created a cluster for 1 postion and it combined the picking of the same item in the work.

Unfortunately this functionality seems to disable some other functions:

    - i can't split the work order in multiple pallets (option 'full' is not available)

    - i can't print a pallet Label for the created LP.

so this is not the solution for our issue.

We also would like to combine multiple order lines in a shipment to be able to pick a full pallet from bulk instead of multiple pick actions and a refill action from bulk to pick.

That also doesn't seem to be possible.

    Hi Henk,

Per an annoucement last year, MS are adding functionality from the Blue Horseshoe AWAX solution to standard D365. This adds a 'Group pick' option to the mobile device menu item setup form, and allows the mobile device to consolidate multiple work lines (for the same item) in to a single instruction for the worker. I hope we will see this functionality in the standard product soon (but I expect it will only be available in the lastest versions of 10.x).

I don't think it will help with your requirement to merge the demand to create full pallet picks.

    Hi Guy,

It seems that this functionality is delivered in the 10.0.1 release.

But I can't find any description or any parameter. Have you already tested / used this functionality ?

    Hi,

Yes, it is in 10.0.1, but it has to be enabled via something called 'Flighting', which is mentioned briefly here.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../dynamics365-finance-operations

As I understand, only Microsoft can unlock functionality which is behind flighting in Live systems, so you'll have to contact them sooner or later. Hopefully, they can describe what you need to do to enable it in non-Prod environments, because I cannot find much publicly available information on the topic.

    Thanks Guy,

I will contact Microsoft and see how this can be activated.
