Schedule Board too many resources

New to the Community so lets see how i go.

Been working in Field Services in both configuring and end user for a few years now.

We have multiple schedule boards with a few resources on them and they work fine when dragging and dropping bookings from one to another or to another time

We also have a large schedule board to get a broader overview of  18 resources. If we try to drag and drop on this board it often fails.

Drag the job and it appears to be moving ok but once we drop it then it looks to go into place but then the cursor has the shadowing of the booking and if you refresh the board it doesn't appear to have updated the booking to a new time or resource.

Anyone had this issue before? Like i say it is just if I put a large number of resources on 1 board. This is of course what the end users want in this case.

Hoping to not have to contact Microsoft support as we all know what that is like!

Thanks

There's a possibility your browser performance is playing a part. Try using Task Manager (assuming you are using Windows) to watch memory and CPU usage as you use the board. That'll tell you if the problem is client-side or with the scheduler plugin. If your system is maxed out, the plugin may be failing.

Maybe switching browsers would help -- they all have their limits, but some are better with plugin resources.

As an example, I can see CPU & memory usage climb quite high as I'm using the task scheduler in PSA.

Your issue may be related to this? - community.dynamics.com/.../can-t-drag-an-existing-resource-booking-to-a-new-time-slot

Although this issue has disappeared for me recently.

Thanks for that. I have just checked and no it doesn't appear to max out CPU or RAM.

What i did find was i can drag and drop bookings for the first 12 or so resources but once I get to 13th to 14th then it plays up.

Once it plays up for 13th or 14th i cant then drag and drop bookings for the first 12 anymore until i refresh the browser.

Yeah it has been better for me lately too. I think it is only because i have a large schedule board that it has come back.

What is the biggest number of resources you have on a board? More than 12?

    Thanks

    Hi,

As you mentioned that the issue is only happening in large schedule board containing 18 resources, i believe the issue is not with browser settings or performance as it works fine with other schedule boards you have.

In the affected Schedule Board settings, please navigate to section Other settings in Schedule Board Settings and update the field "Retrieve Resources Query" to "Default Retrieve Resources Query (3.0.0.0)" > Click on Apply and validate the behavior.

For optimal performance, also consider deleting any bookings that have a canceled status (specifically current/future bookings) as this can help reduce rendering times. Also you might consider limiting the resources used in the schedule assistant search to those on the schedule board (this can be found in the tab settings/schedule board settings).

Kindly mark as suggested if this is helpful.

Thanks. I dont think it is browser either. Too many users on dif browser get the exact same result. I think it is server resources/query isssue.

I dont get the option for ""Default Retrieve Resources Query (3.0.0.0)" so i tried "default filter layout (default)" but made no difference. What i did notice was that the start and end time did not change but the travel time did. It was like it managed to change the end time, then update travel time, but then had issue updating start time.

On the same day there were no cancelled WOs and i only show 1 day per page.

    Thanks

For ""Default Retrieve Resources Query (3.0.0.0)"

    > Load the schedule board > Click the 'Gear' icon next to the schedule board tab:

    > In the window that pops up, scroll down to 'other settings'. Click the dropdown next to "Retrieve Resources Query" and select "Default Retrieve Resources Query (3.0.0.0) (Default)"

URS installed is v3.12.20.2. What is the URS solution installed in your organization ? If you are using older version of URS then I would recommend to update it and validate the behavior.

Also do you see any differences when using Days/Hours/Week view ?

If the above doesnt help, i would recommend to submit a Support ticket for investigation.
