Birthday appointment creation for synced contacts

Hello, 

We have an on-premise Dynamics 365 implementation. We synchronize Contacts from Dynamics CRM to MS Outlook using SSS. These contacts are mostly populated with Date Of Birth Field. When a contact get's synchronized with Outlook from CRM, the DOB field in Outlook contact is also populated as expected, however a corresponding Birthday reminder is not created for the user in Outlook calendar. The only way to get the reminder created is to modify the DOB field in outlook and save the contact. This adds an additional step for the user, as every time a contact is synced, the DOB field has to be modified, to get a calendar item created. I have two questions - 

1) Is this a product (MS Outlook) limitation or by-design behavior or this is caused by some sort of flag placed by CRM? 

2) Is there a workaround, so the user's don't have to make this change manually and everything is automated?

    Hi Priyesh,

    I appreciate your assistance. This is not a sync field issue, as the data is getting synced with Outlook DOB field successfully. Based on my interaction on the Outlook forum, it was concluded that this is a by-design behavior of Outlook. When you Import contacts or Sync contacts, even if the data in DOB is populated; Outlook will not create a birthday reminder unless the DOB field or First Name field is modified. I eventually ended up writing an Outlook macro to update the DOB field and then placing the original value on-demand.

    Hi,

    You'll need to check the System Settings on what fields are being synced currently to Outlook and what is the direction of sync. Navigate to Settings > Administration > System Settings > Synchronization tab. In that, select the link which says 'Synchronization fields'
