Hi,

if i have a C# windows service application which is using SDK to connect to Dynamics CRM 365 can i use the same app to connect to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations?

Thanks

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operation is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (explanation on Wikipedia), while "CRM" in Dynamics CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. They are completely different systems.

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operation offers web services that you can call from your C# service. Please refer to the product documentation, starting with Integration patterns and practices.

It is pretty much a comparison of apples to bananas, they are completely different products.

The ways you have used for communicating with Dynamics CRM are entirely different from the options you have for the New Dynamics AX (Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition).

You would have to develop custom code and access the integration points that D365fF&O offers out of the box. If something you need is not exposed by default, also X++ code must created and deployed in the AX instance, which you could consume then.

Have a read about the article that Martin provided, it is a great source of information to begin with. There are more detailed information available in the documentation.

Thank you so much for your help Vilmos. Yes i read that article and i would like to re frame the last part of my question.  I have one windows service application which i am using to connect to AX 2012. It works on the WSDL provided by AX 2012. Can i use the same application to connect to this Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operation?

AX 2012 was using SOAP service while this AX(Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operation) is using REST?

It depends on whether you were using custom services (which still offer SOAP endpoints in AX 7) or document services, which don't exist anymore - they've been replaced with OData services.

@Sukrut..Yes i read that thats why i am asking can i use the same app which i was using to connect to AX 2012 or do i need to rewrite the code.

    Thanks

@Martin...When you are talking about custom service. You are referring to AIF services?I am sorry i am asking so many questions. I am very new to this AX so i have many confusions.

The app which i am talking about will perform CRUD operation. Can you please share the steps to get WSDL url from Dynamics 365 For Finance and Operation?
