D365 FnO On-premise | SQL Performance Tuning

Hi,
 
Are there guidelines for performance tuning of SQL server for on premise D365 FnO environments? Specifically, index management and fragmentation?
I know there are a bunch of tools for this on LCS for cloud hosted environments. 
 
At the moment, other than updating statistics periodically, we are not doing anything else. Would love to hear from the on-prem gurus on this forum.
