Goods Transfer Functionality from POS

We have a requirement to transfer items from one store to another using POS. The salesman is responsible to confirm a transfer in the system and he has access to only the POS frontend as a user license.

Will, he/she be able to do this transaction in D365 retail POS?

    Hi Algie67,

    Thanks for your reply, it is of great help.

    One more thing, we do not have inventory in D365. I mean the inventory is not stored in D365 instead the inventory information is stored in Oracle EBS and it is integrated with D365. With my technical understanding, I believe picking, shipping, and receiving must still be possible. Right?

    Regards,

    Prashant

    Hi,

    Absolutely! the picking and shipping / receiving can all be done in MPOS. The MPOS sort of has to be portable (used as a tablet) The picking is on a display within MPOS - it is not like scanning an item and marking it off against the order. You can adjust the quamtieies line by line fo what is on the order - if you open an order up you see the choices by clicking on the update button. You can then highlight lines as you go, receive or ship as required. We use the comments as the manifest logic...just a bit of lateral thinking.

    Also I would say don't necessarily think of mpos as a store. Ok you have to have it configured against a store but it actually works against warehouses. So think of warehouses as stores. We have Head Office set as a store, the DC set as a store - all so we can benefit from the functions within MPOS.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

    If I am understanding it right, you mean from the Shop (where MPOS or POS) is installed, I will be able to pick and ship the items as well. Implies, I will not have to login to the backoffice application of D365 retail in order to pick and ship the item. Is my understanding in line with what you stated earlier?

    I am reconfirming because I've been informed several times over the past few years that you can only create a transfer order in POS but picking and shipping of items is not possible from POINT OF SALE application but only from BACK OFFICE application.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

    You don’t need the warehouse app – all can be done in D365 / MPOS

    In Permission groups there is an indicator to allow transfer orders:

    You will need to run distributions to ensure that the staff get this permission on the MPOS

    On MPOS itself when you have added a picking and receiving button click on the “new” at the bottom of the screen and you will get the choices as shown in the next screenshot;

     2161.pastedimage1562224044543v2.png

    Click on the transfer in/out  and this will give you the following view;

     4428.pastedimage1562224083048v3.png

    Fill in the fields as required. If you go to D365>inventory Management>transfer orders you will see the order there also. Any open orders based on the store you are logged in as on MPOS will show on the main view.

    We are on v10.0.2 here but this worked back in v8 and I think was also there way back in 2012 r3

    There are no customisations involved.

    thanks

    Thanks.

    We do not have WHS App. We are using only D365 Retail.

    Some more questions:

    1. Is this functionality available as part of the D365 standard product or you had to customize it?

    2. Can you also tell me the version of your application so that I can check it with mine?

    3. Can you share a screenshot of how you see the button in the POS screen?

    thank you in advance :)

    Hi,

    Yes you can. we use it all the time. Add a button on POS called picking and receiving. This lists orders but you can also raise transfer orders from here by clicking new - it offers you transfers in and out. Couple of things you will need to do. In the POS permissions for the worker there is a marker of allow transfers to be raised (something like that - you need this set). Also to see stores you can transfer between you need the stores to exist in the same fulfilment group on the store. The transfers sync back to D365 transfer orders in inventory management. Just a word of warning - if you are using advanced warehouse with POS stores you can't mix and match the processes between POS, WHS App and D365 - they all get "upset" about licence plates and the fact that POS makes you select the location on the store that WHDS doesn't like as that is what it wants to do.
