Skip Data Upgrade checklist

Hi All,

I am working on the migration from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3.  The code upgrade checklist has been completed in AX 2012 R3.  but my client doesn't want to transfer data from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3. So I want to skip the "Data Upgrade checklist" ,Should I do it or is it mendatory to complete in AX 2012 R3?

Then after I will manually tick the "Prevent startup of the checklist" checkbox so  I can access all menus when I  open AX.

Can I do it? Please suggest me or if you have any idea please let me know.

If you mean you would like to start from fresh and only carry over customizations, you could do a clean install for R3 with the slip-stream installer to go straight to the version you want. After that complete the Initialization checklist.

Once you are done, you could just do a regular code release of your modelstore, synchronize Data dictionary, then check your License information/configuration, etc.

Thanks Vilmos and I agreed with you, but Can I not followed my suggested steps? And "Data Upgrade checklist" step will come later on.

Without knowing what steps you have done which gets you to that checklist, I would say the safe bet is to still go with the above. Clean install, release the modelstore prepared during the upgrade, then set up your fresh system.

Do you have any materials for it? Please share me.

    Hi Nimisha,

Data upgrade checklist has many important task which needs to be completed before you r AX should be ready, you can skip few of the less important tasks out of this checklist but skipping the entire checklist is not recommended.

    Shyam:

Since he expressed he does not need the old database, Data upgrade checklist is not required. But if he still gets the popup, that means he has done a step incorrectly somewhere, thus a clean installation from scratch ensures the environment will be OK, once the upgraded modelstore is released.

    Nimisha:

I am unsure what do you expect as material, all the installation steps could be found in the AX 2012 setup guide, and also you could find details easily on slip-streaming the installer in your favorite search engine.

I got that I shouldn't skip the Data Upgrade checklist.

    Thanks Vilmos and Shyam.
