Use of JSON format to export composite entity in D365 FO

Hello,

I would like to know if I can use JSON format to export composite entity in D365 FO. If yes, how we can expose it?
Any blog document or reference is helpful.
Also, I am trying to integrate sales order invoices with 3rd party which will have header and lines and so I wanted to know shall I use the sales order invoice header V2 and sales order invoice line V2 both entities separately.
Also, can we have a single one or a composite one for this? what should be the best practice for the above scenario?

Also, for bulk record shall I use OData or custom web service?

Thankyou.
Ayu.

    Hi @Ayu,

Generally, when you use OData, the data comes in JSON format.

    Hi,
First, composite data entities cannot be used for OData integration. So if you are using OData, forget composite data entities. https://www.gangsta.se/blog/entry/composite-data-entities-in-d365fo
Using separate entities provides greater control over each data set, simplifies data manipulation and validation, and aligns with standard practices in D365 FO. OData supports JSON format as the data transmission format.Open Data Protocol (OData) - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    Hi,

Json is not supported for export in general. You can export it as xml then convert it to json.

Also there is an article regarding downloading an extension to convert it to json

For large volumes, odata has poor performance

    Thanks,
    Layan Jweihan
