Guest user cannot login to Guides

Hi 

I have Dynamics 365 Guides working in our company's tenant. I can log in and author and operate Guides fine.

Now I want to provide access to a guest user using his company credentials.  On the web admin side everything seems fine and the guest has been allocated a Guides license, and has Author and operator permissions. But when the guest tries to login with his own login, it fails.  It seems like the Guides app is not redirecting him to our tenant, but only looking in his company's tenant, which does not have guides installed.

Am I missing something here?

    Thanks for the replies.

    It confirms why it was not working. Now we don't have to waste time trying to get a Guest account working.

    Hi Iain

    Guides doesn't support AAD's B2B authentication yet. This is something we have planned for the not too distant future.

    Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime. Ken provides some good work arounds.

    Your examples are correct, that is also the same process that must be followed to allow internal users access to Guides. We follow this process with internal service accounts and provide the username / password for users outside of our tenant to use. We then reset the passwords when it is time to assign the access to another user.

    Your post also makes me realize that perhaps I was unclear above. What I was trying to say was that Guides doesn't support a user associating to any tenant except their home tenant. When signing into Guides a user will only be able to sign into their home tenant.

    Assigning licenses to them from another tenant, and assigning them Basic User, Operator and Author access in an environment on another tenant will not grant a Guest user access to those resources. Guest users have a different home tenant and they cannot switch tenants in Guides.

    Andrew,

    For Iain's benefit, I also want to confirm that an besides having to allow Guest Access on your environment, don't you also have to (1) have an extra Guides license and (2) assign to that Guest.

    Said another way, a Guest isn't a type of general access. If for example "Bugs Bunny" is your guest from what I understand you give Bugs Bunny specific guest access on your environment and assign a Guides license to Bugs Bunny. Further, let say you have a second guest, Mickey Mouse, well then you have make sure you have a second available Guides license to assign and given Mickey Mouse, a named guest access on the environment.

    That is my understanding and one of the reasons we don't allow guest access because in actual practice its a pain.

    Hello Iain,

    As far as I am aware, like Remote Assist, Guides only signs users into their home tenant, they can't access other tenants during the sign in process. There isn't any interface to choose which tenant to sign into right now in Guides or Remote Assist.

    You will likely have to make a service account on your tenant and provide them access to that if you want to provide an outside, or guest user access to.your guides environment. This is how we provide outside users access to our Guides environments.
