Server Configuration Utility - specify max buffer size

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

Hello,

I have the following error on UAT environment:

"The total, internal size of the records in your joined SELECT statement is 206056 bytes, but Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is by default performance-tuned not to exceed 196608 bytes."

And the system suggests:

"Alternatively, you have to specify a 'Maximum buffer size' value of 202 Kbytes or higher on the 'Database Tuning' tab page in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations: Server Configuration Utility. The default value is 24 Kbytes."

Do you know in Azure environment where can I find Server Configuration Utility?

I have the same question (0)

I haven't heard of this error in D365FO so far. Maybe because they seem to have increased the default value to 196 KB.

To my knowledge there is no Server configuration utility for D365FO, everything is handled with config files.

You don't have access to the configuration files in Microsoft hosted D365FO environments.

You could try to trim your statement (it is coming from a customization, right?), or create a service request of type Other for the DSE team and ask if they can increase the limit.

There is no server config utility in D365. Looks like your select statement is quite heavy. During which operation you are getting this error ? Is that functionality customized ?

The form that gives the error is TaxAccountGroup and it has no customizations.

This is the screenshot from the error:

There are a lot of reference datasources in this form. But can this cause the problem since it is standard functionality?

Believe it or not, sometimes there are problems also in the standard application.

Do you experience this only in UAT, but not PROD? Do you have different posting group setup in PROD?

Anyway, if you need that setup, I advise you to create a service request for the DSE team to increase the limit in your environment. If it works, then ask them to increase it for PROD environment, too.

You have to report it to Microsoft. If its stopping you  from  doing your work  in prod env, you might have to contact DSE as suggested above by Nikolaos and see if they can help.
