Fixed Asset Budget

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am Trying to Activate the Fixed Asset Budgeting it's working fine but I have some questions if someone can help:

1- when post the fixed asset Budget Journal as (Transfer to fixed asset budget) it has no Control effect.

2- When post the fixed asset Budget Journal as ( Transfer to fixed asset budget and ledger)

a- the Ledger account should be included in the activated Structure account in Budget Setup, let's say if I use in the budget control "P&L Structure" and I posted the fixed asset budget journal for acquisition type (Balance sheet account) the budget control not works

b- in case I include the acquisition account in the activate Structure (as our example P&L) the budget control work fine but per ledger not per assets record, let's say if I posted a fixed asset budget journal for Fixed asset (COM000001) with amount 1500$ then I create  acquisition for fixed asset (COM000002) with 2000$, budget control check appear I think it should be validate for COM000001 but it seems validate for the ledger account!!

Appreciate your reply

Abdullah Ahmad

    RE: Fixed Asset Budget

    Hi Abdullah,

For 1): If you do not transfer the fixed asset budget to budget and ledger, the amounts are not getting transferred into the budgeting module and you cannot make use of the budget control feature. That is, there is no control effect as you write. That's Standard AX behavior.

For 2a): That is also the Standard AX behavior. Unfortunately, you can only use budget control for a single account structure. If you select the P&L structure you won't have a control on your balance sheet (fixed asset) accounts. The solution would be to make use of only one single account structure or to modify the budget control feature.

For 2b): The problem you describe can be circumvented by setting up each fixed asset with its own fixed asset financial dimension. If you budget at the ledger account + fixed asset financial dimension level you can get the control you want. Please note that it requires only a minor system modification to setup fixed assets automatically with their own fixed asset financial dimension value.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig
