The subgrids are by default using the Modal popups to insert/view/edit, however if you need to use modals for something else you can use Javascripts to implement, might use some 3rd Party Javascsript libraries as well.
I want to add custom inputtext box with the search icon onclick of search icon need to open a modal also need to apply styles to the modal
Dynamics 365 Portal uses Bootstrap, so you can use Bootstrap's modal to load an iframe/webpage.
