Change Existing EDT length/size

I need to change the string size of an existing EDT say ItemID which is extended from another EDT "ItemIdBase". Now other than the customization option, It only allows to change the string size in an extension for the EDT. But changing string size in an extension for the ItemIdBase doesn't instill a change in ItemId's length. How can we do this?

It seems to work fine for me. How did you test it? What if you rebuild the whole application?

I tested it with my forms directly from the debugger after a build of my model, and also through code. Haven't done the full application compile yet though.

Well if it works for you then I think it would work for me too, I'll test again after a full compile.

I'm not sure what you want to see in code. I changed the length to 25 (from 20) and created a new released product with Item ID abcdefghijklmnopqqrstuvwzy.

Well it didn't let me add more than 20 characters. I'll try again after a full compile.

Hi martin,

I do have a problem in changing the size of EDT.

CMCLedgerLedgerTransTxt --- this is the last created EDT. for this already size is 120 chars. display length changed to 110.

Ledgerjournaltranstxt this EDT size has to be changed.

martin Kindly suggest, what to do? I need to see this EDT associate field in the form to display a size of 100 charges. but after 60 characters.

it truncates the size.

I am facing the same issue... the existing EDT I need to change the size and that particular field has to be shown in the form. how to do that.

I did that by creating extension but after creating extension also I am unable to change the size of it.

what to do? kindly reply me as soon as possible.

the field must show 100 character out of 120 charaters.

do I want to build the full application or particular object so that update can be seen immediately.

database sync has to be done after doing the build.

Hi,

after creating the extension for the EDT be sure to open the extension in Design mode, after that you should be able to change the Length for a string EDT
