GP 2018 Crashes When Running Multiple Batches

Posted on by 340

I have a single user that is having catastrophic failures of GP 2018 when she runs multiple purchasing batches. GP will totally close down without warning during this process.

The only things the log shows is a general crash:

"Faulting application name: Dynamics.exe, version: 18.0.21.0, time stamp: 0x5d8138e8
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.18362.778, time stamp: 0x3dcfaabb
Exception code: 0xc0000374
Fault offset: 0x000dfa1d
Faulting process id: 0x28f0
Faulting application start time: 0x01d6173545f9ef6b
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Dynamics.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 8e863fc3-3e7f-4f76-95bd-a049858c5af4
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID: "

If she goes into TOOOLS, ROUTINES AND BATCH RECOVERY, it may run a few and then crash.

If it matters, each one prints a report.

I can successfully run all of the batches for her when this happens.

Any suggestions? Do I need to post some additional logs?

    Hello Brian,

    I know this post is a little old, but i would like to respond on it.

    It appears that the crashing is happening when printing the reports. What i would recommend you do is recreate and synchronize your Forms and Reports Dictionaries and see if that corrects the issue.

    1. Recreate and synchronize the modified forms and reports.

    951767 How to re-create the Forms.dic file in Microsoft Dynamics GP

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-US/help/951767

    1. To synchronize, use the steps below:
      1. Open the Dex.ini.
      2. This is located in the Data folder in the GP Code Folder.
      3. Change the SYNCHRONIZATION line from FALSE to TRUE and save the changes and close the window.
      4. Start Great Plains Utilities. To do this, follow the appropriate step:
      5. In Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 and higher versions, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Dynamics, point to GP 10.0 (or appropriate version), and then click Utilities.
      6. In Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Dynamics, point to GP 9.0, and then click Utilities.
      7. In Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains 8.0, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Business Solutions, point to Great Plains, and then click Great Plains Utilities.
      8. In the Additional Tasks window, click Synchronize forms and reports dictionaries, and then click Process.
      9. Locate the Dynamics.set file on the client computer, and then click Next.

    The reference in the last part to older GP’s doesn’t matter. The process is the same between all version of GP.

    I hope this helps!

    RE: GP 2018 Crashes When Running Multiple Batches

    I've spent more time on this and here are my findings...And remember, when I say "crashed", GP closes completely without warning.

    If she goes into:

    * Transactions

    * Purchasing

    * Series Post

    Then selects all she wants to run and then process, it will crash after doing a few. She will have to go into GP, Tools, ROUTINES, BATCH RECOVERY to get them to finish out.

    So, I started testing in the testing company and here's what I've done and seen.

    * I've made it crash in the test company.

    * I go to batch recovery to let it complete.

    * If I go to run a series post again, it works fine.

    * I did it 2-3 more times and it did it again.

    * I rebooted, tried a series post and it crashed after the first or first two.

    * Batch recovery worked fine.

    * Rebooted again, tried a series post but this time canceled printing on all of them. It didn't crash.

    * Didn't reboot and tried series post again with letting it print and it crashed.

    * Rebooted and just selected on series, let it print and it completed. I selected the rest of them, let them print and they all completed.

    * Updated the driver for the printer, rebooted. Tried to run a series...it got into about 10 of them before crashing.

    Any additional insight on what this may be?

    Good Day

    If the user logs into a different workstation, does she have the same issue?

    Does she print the Edit Lists prior to posting?  No issues on those I assume?

    If you create a new User ID for this user, does that resolve?

    Is this a hard wired connection or does she remote in somehow?  Wireless lap top?

    Thanks!
