Asset Leasing Data Migration

Hi Everyone,

We are currently working on implementing Asset Leasing module for one of our customers. I have a question regarding the data migration piece.

Our customer has been using the Crowe solution in AX2012 and they had a Phase 1 implementation of D365F&SCM as well. There is an integration between AX2012 and D365F&SCM, and the way in which they have been handling the leases is:

- payment and expenses journals are integrated to show in D365F&SCM

- liability and depreciation transactions are in AX only.

Has anyone come across such a scenario? or could anyone advise on the best way of migrating the legacy leases in this instance?

Any help is much appreciated! Thank you :)

    Hi Catalina,

    Suggestions:
For migrating the legacy leases there are different data entities available in D365 F&SCM under Data Management -> Data Entities. There are around 39 standard entities related to Asset leasing. Based on your detailed requirement, you can leverage these data entities for legacy data migration.

    Note:
    1. Not all the fields required will be there in the standard data entities, so we need to extend these data entities through custom development.
    2. Also, check for configuration keys enabled in the instances you are accessing D365 F&SCM data from. These data entities could vary based on the configuration keys enabled.

Worked on a similar scenario for a customer where the legacy data had to be migrated. Either you create a back tracked period and then keep the period and the financial year calendar open before migrating the legacy data or else just push this data onto a historical data base. Publish the relevant data entities onto the historical data base through Bring Your Own Database (BYOD) or push them in the form of a .csv files and import the data into the historical database (PowerAutomate or a SSIS package).

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.
