While upgrading the system from AX 2012 R3 RTM to AX 2012 R3 CU12, we are getting the error. The message which we get in log file is:

" AxUtil call is complete.
AxUtil call returned warnings:
One or more model elements in the imported model file contains
elements that have a different name in the model store. The following elements
have adopted the model store name:
Using AXUtil to connect to database "AX_model" on server "serverName".
Calling AxUtil to get list of installed models.
Using AXUtil to connect to database "AX_model" on server "serverName".
AxUtil call is complete.
An error occurred during setup of Model Database (serverName:AX_model).
Completed setup of Model Database.

=== Setup was completed successfully."

Currently system contains two model in model store which is:
1- USR Layer (usr layer) - which is system generated
2- Custom (usr layer) - Generated from AOT

Kindly guide me, what steps i can take for upgrading the system to CU12, as no customization should be missed.

    Hi,

Have you followed the guide for an in-place upgrade? technet.microsoft.com/.../jj733502.aspx

At what exact step do you get this error?

AX 2012 R3 RTM was already install and working fine on machine.
While running the ax upgrade installer file (R3 CU12) on this machine, we get the error in "model database component" as log file shows below error
"One or more model elements in the imported model file contains
elements that have a different name in the model store. The following elements
have adopted the model store name".

Kindly see the attachment for your reference.

Did you follow all steps documented in the "Before you begin" section, such as uninstalling DIXF (if applicable)?

We follow the CU12 upgradation guide and there is nothing written about uninstalling DIXF, but actually DIXF was not install in the environment so i didnt need to uninstall it.

In addition, our system contain 2 model in same USR layer. is this creating a problem

    Hi,

As per recommended guidelines listed in in-place upgrade we need to perform upgradation on a clone test environment.Steps are to take required backups from AX 2012 RTM, install CU12 on test environment, run setup again to upgrade modeldatabase, upgrade base layers and models(& ISV's if any) and last step is to include custom models(in each layer). I believe conflict is happening between some base objects of two versions. Please check the in-place upgrade process listed below(as suggested by André)  to see if any step is missing.

Refer following link - Check for case Upgrade from AX 2012 or AX 2012 Feature Pack.

    (Scenario: Perform in-place upgrade to AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 [AX 2012])

    Hi,

It's the same link.If you check the link there are two cases one is from AX2012 R2 to AX2012 R3 and other case is from AX2012 RTM to AX2012 R3, I suggested you to follow second case that's it.

    Hi,

If you check its the same link with two cases, first case is explaining about  Case 1: Upgrade from AX 2012 or AX 2012 Feature Pack and second case is about Case 2: Upgrade from AX 2012 R2. We suggested you to follow the steps for first case.
