Is it possible to show a simple dropdown list for lookup controls on entity forms?
I got this solved by MS Support :-) The missing puzzle was creating entity permissions "Read" and "Append" for the lookup entity.
Wow, cool that there is such a feature. Apperently it does not work for me. Yes, there now is a dropdown list, but it is empty :-( I tried it for both the lookup fields on the form and none of them has options to select from.
I checked the html and there are no option inside the select-control, so for me it seems to be a problem with loading the data.
Is there anything else that needs to be configured?
You need to add "Entity Form Metadata" located at the bottom of the entity form. The type will be attribute. Select the field you want to render as the "Attribute Logical Name". Select Control style "Render Lookup as Dropdown" That should do what you are looking for.
