Is there a generic report for p&L or the balance sheet in GP 2015?

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to GP and this forum was so useful the other day. Hence I'm back to ask a few more questions.

Does GP come with a P&L report out of the box? How about some short of balance sheet report? If so, where can I find these? We're also getting a little confused with the menus - what's the best way to even locate reports? Through "Microsoft GP reports" or "All reports" on the left nav bar?

There is a set of pre-defined financial statements (generally using the Account Categories) that can be used in a pinch. These are found in Financial > Reports > Financial Statements.

Management Reporter should be what you are using to build your financial statements though. If you only want to use GP, I would recommend just running a trial balance, and build your own in Excel. This will be far easier to work with until you get MR running.

Hi Kimberly, GP does come with canned financial reports (BS and P&L) but they are rarely used by anyone because of their limited flexibility. Most (probably 95%+) companies use Management Reporter, which comes with GP but is a separate reporting tool, for creating and generating financials. You should check to see if your GP Partner deployed Management Reporter for you. If not, they need to.

As for navigation to reports, there are a number of ways, two of which you mentioned. There's also a 3rd, and that is going to the Reports menu within each module. If you go Financial>>Reports you'll see a menu item there for Management Reporter. Click on it and see if it launches. If it doesn't, contact your partner.

You can also create shortcuts to reports on your Home Page and in the Navigation Pane, so there are lots of navigation choices for you.

Frank,

You spoke of installing the Management Reporter. I've done the setup for the reporter client, but I'm not seeing this management report as an option under financial -> reports. Do I also need to install the management reporter server?

No Kimerly Management Reporter its own reporting tool just like FRx if you have used in the past. You need to install MR server and then do all setup and install client version. Please refer the following from community how to install MR.

Correct Kimberly, it should show up in that menu. I strongly suggest getting some help from your GP Partner on this because of the relative complexity of setup and configuration on the server side.

Kimberly,

Management reporter is a data mining tool customized for Microsoft dynamics and in this case Dynamics Gp.

They are two sets of installation,management reporter server and client.You need to configure server first so that it can link to GP data and then install client that will provide a friendlier user interface and one can design the financial statements from there as all the GL accounts will be accessible from management reporter.
