Marketing Form Submission - Match Contact and not Update other fields of the contact record

With Dynamics 365 Marketing, I have created a marketing form, with contact/lead matching. Once the form is submitted a lead/contact is created

Contact Matching strategy - emailaddress1. to avoid duplicate contacts being created.

This is all working fine, however, where the contact is matched i do not want the system to update other fields in that contact record with data from the form submission

.e.g. First Name in contact record is not updated by the first name entered in the marketing form.

How to i match the contact and not update the record?

Have you tried to change the field below to "only leads"?

would it not be possible to make a plugin on the entity "msdyncrm_marketingfieldsubmission" or "msdyncrm_marketingfieldsubmission" that fires on create.

Once fired get the matching field and search against your dataverse. If match/already exists throw error with message "your account already exists, please contact admin via ....."

I don't know if this will show the error message on the marketing form to the customer.

Thank you for your reply.

Is that behaviour fixed? we would like to try and limit what is updated in the contact record.

Once the form is submitted create a lead/contact (match lead/contact)

this lead is then reviewed by an individual and if required they can update the contact information

Is that possible?

Thanks for your feedback.

However, the behavior is design purpose of matching strategy:

When a submission is received, Dynamics 365 Marketing will check whether any existing contact has the submitted email address:

If a match is found, the submission is used to update that contact; if no match is found, a new contact is created with the received values.

Contacts should be allowed to update their information via new submission.
