Hi Guys, Hope you're fine :)

I'm new to dynamics 365, and i'm currenlty working in a project where we need to virtualize all the data entity present in finance and operation, exposing them to power app.

Now, I discovered that in order to create new data entity is necessary to open the finance and operation app with visual studio, but I'm facing difficulties in doing it.

There are three questions that comes in my mind:
- What version of visual studio is required in order to do it?
- There are other ways to do it?
- How can I connect an already created finance and operations app with visual studio in order to add some data entities?

Thank you all

    Hi Community member,

    1. Visual studio 2019 at least
    2. No, you need Visual studio to create a new entity
    3. Go to LCS and look for this already created FO environment there, to open the Virtual machine for it (you can ask other technical consultants to help you with this)

Btw is your other question answered? If yes then please verify the answers that helped

    Thanks,

You need to talk to the people who usually do F&O development and maintenance for your company, which may be someone in your company or an implementation partner. You'll need things like permissions in the source control system, Visual Studio license, understand rules for the implementation project (such as naming conventions) and so on. They also manage things like test environments, building source code to binaries, deploying binaries to F&O environments and so on. We can't do these thing for you.

Visual Studio is necessary. You can use Visual Studio 2019 or 2022. But don't try to install it; you need to use a pre-installed development environment instead. The place where to start is LCS, where an environment is either deployed to Azure, or there is a virtual hard disk to download and set up a local Hyper-V virtual machine. Again, you need to talk to the admins who manage environments on your project and have the necessary permissions and knowledge.
