Dear ALL,

Hope you are doing well!

This is regarding reversing entry in d365 fo

I went to the posted general journal entry and open the lines so what I observed that on the lines there is a option Reverse entire journal

My 1st Query is that when i reversed this transaction - Message shows that it successfully reversed that's why reverse button is disabled. But this entry is still in Posted. Can somebody please guide me why it is so?

My 2nd query is that - As I mentioned above that in the journal lines there is a option reverse entire journal so after completing this reverse step when i went to the Voucher I found there also a Reversing button -Why it is so and what is the difference between these 2 reversing buttons

Reversal of General Journal entry in d365 FO

Hi,

Based on the problem you described, I tested the first question in a test environment, and the result is the same as your, the entries on the page are still in a posted state after the reverse entire journal operation is completed. Some screenshots of my tests are below:

Based on this result, I have a guess that although the revocation has been processed, this reversal entry does not directly change the posting status of the original entry. The original entry is still posted, except that it will have an associated reversal entry associated with it. The original entries remain in the system for auditing and reporting. The system treats the reversal as a new transaction associated with the original entry.
The second problem is that the difference between these two invert buttons is the scope and object of the operation. The Reverse entire journal option on the general ledger entry line is used to reverse the entire entry, while the Invert button on the voucher transactions page is used to reverse the Voucher transactions. The objects to which the two buttons trigger the reversal action are different. I don't think you have successfully reversed the entire journal in the posted general journal entry which is not balanced and have two dates.
