Filtered lookup not working in UI model driven app

I have configured filtered lookup in appointment entity using related filter records option for custom lookups. It works fine in legacy UI. However, in model driven app, it shows 2 different behavior. Upon clicking on the lookup it displays recent lookup options that are not relevant to the lookup values. Ignoring this and clicking on the search icon of the lookup, it shows all the values instead of filtering based on the related record filter options.

Is this expected?

    Also, just to add on that, you can "Disable most recently used items for this field" on a Lookup properties to prevent inconsistencies:

    Can you please check if the experience is better with the new lookup enhancements that are now in preview?

    In my tests, the lookup was correctly filtered based on another lookup.
    I was however to select other values from "recent" records.
