Hi Experts,

I am trying to copy one legal entity to other legal entity using data management workspace.

While copying Account payable and Inventory template I am getting so many errors related to vendors and site, few of them are:

Results. Field 'Vendor account' does not allow editing.
Results. Number ABC-000000009 does not match format DEF-#########.
Results. Validations failed.

update not allowed for field 'Use warehouse management processes(AreAdvancedWarehouseManagementProcessesEnabled)'
Results. update not allowed for field 'Type(WarehouseType)'
Results. Validations failed

Cannot locate data source record of type InventLocation with RecId 68719484373. Entity name: InventWarehousePostalAddressEntity, RecId: 68719542462, Database operation: Update.

Kindly suggest copy to legal entity from Data Management is the best solution for making duplicate of company or is there any better option available in D365.

Many Thanks,

Poonam

    Hi Poonam,

Why do you want to copy a legal entity? This is not supported for all tables using the data management framework. In your first example. it is  now copying the vendor account number which should be excluded or you have to set the number sequence in the target company to manual.

Please explain what exactly you want to achieve and why.

    Hi Poonam,

Yes you should use data management to copy configuration and master data from one company to another legal entity.

Did you follow the correct steps as mentioned in Microsoft docs with all the validations checks.

    hi Poonam,

Whenever we copy data from one legal entity to another we have to make sure that we have similar set of sub master require for that , example:

    1. Number sequence should be same or set it as manual in target entity

    2. Vendor group, Customer group, payment term etc... should be same or should copy first before main entity , it has to be in sequence

Here is one blog if this can help you.
