Good Morning,

I am working on a project where the client is planning to use the Asset Leasing module. Facing a major obstacle in importing their legacy data into D365. Would appreciate if anyone could point me in the direction of how to accomplish this task.

Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

RE: Upload Legacy Data into D365 Asset Leasing

    Hi Jay,

I understand now - there are 3 main data entities for uploading lease information into the module once configured and 15 entities in total including those needed for configuring the system. Below are brief descriptions of the data entities used to populate a configured environment:

Parent Leases - Contains the lease header information. This will upload the same information that you would enter manually in the Add Lease form such as Lease ID, lease group, fair value, etc. This should be uploaded first after the system is fully configured.

Payment Schedule Contract - Contains the same information as the Payment Schedule Lines on the Add Lease form. The Lease ID field in this data entity should match the Lease IDs uploaded in the Parent Leases data entity, and therefore, should be imported only after the Parent Lease data entity has been imported.

Expense Schedule Contract - If applicable, any executory cost schedule lines should be imported last in a similar manner to the Payment Schedule Contract entity.

In regards to the configuration entities, Microsoft has put together this helpful video explaining the process for all 15 data entities: community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-365-finance-asset-leasing-master-data-migration.

    Thanks!

RE: Upload Legacy Data into D365 Asset Leasing

    Hi Brian,

Thank you for your reply and very helpful blog.  However, the issue I am having is not so much so with calculations but rather the uploading of data. The client has a number of leased asset that need to be uploaded into Dynamics. The issue is finding the right entities with which to upload data and the right sequence of events to execute it.

RE: Upload Legacy Data into D365 Asset Leasing

    Hi Jay1,

This is a common problem that many clients face when using the Asset Leasing module for the first time. Because of that, I wrote a blog post describing the process in detail: https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/b/asset-leasing-experts-blog/posts/asset-leasing-opening-balance-migration

Please let me know if you have follow up questions from this guide.

    Thanks!
