Hi Team,

We just went live on AX 2012 couple of months back are noticing that it takes almost 5 minutes to generate a report from Management reporter.  Is this normal ? Will this time increase exponentially as we have more and more data.. Can you share some statistics based on your experience ?

Thanks.

Sam

When you set up Management Reporter, did you select the datamart option?

Char.. Thanks for the repoly ..I don't think the datamart option was installed.. Can we enable it now that we have installed and built reports on it ? If so, can you point me to install guide for the same ?

I think you will need to partially reinstall but it will be worth it when you see the time that it takes for reports to generate.

Hey Sam did you find a solution to this issue?   Our performance is TERRIBLE!  I have a dual core VM w/ 16 GB RAM for the Management Reporter server.  Opening the application, changing views (report definition to row definition, etc), running reports, … are all so slow.  I don’t see any CPU or network activity on the MR server, AOS, or database server.  There is just a whole lot of hour glass being displayed.  I am using a new installation of 2.1.1028 with AX Datamart and only have a few report definitions.  It takes over 2 minutes to open the designer to the point where “Ready” is displayed in the status bar.

    Hi Busch,

it sounds like you are experiencing a different issue. It sounds like the Management Reporter application service is struggling for some reason. You should look where the MR Application Service is installed and see what else is running.

If you open task manager and processes you should see MRServiceHost.exe. If you have both the application and process service installed on this server, you may also see two instances. Check the performance on that machine. You may be having connectivity or resource issues there. If you need specific help it may be easier to go to support to troubleshoot latency issues.

Normally connectivity and using Designer is very fast, so I don't have much for you to check.

    Thanks

    Ryan

    Hello Ryan,

It is kind of the same in that it takes 5 plus minutes to create and view the simplest of reports.  I did use task manager and performance monitor on the MR server (both MR services running on the same server), AOS server and Database server.  Put the client on AOS server, put the client on the MR server and got poor performance from both places.  I can not see any reason why it is so slow.  Durning the time it takes to generate the report and get the report displayed in the viewer I am not seeing any significant cpu or network activity on any of the servers or the MR client.

It has been suggested that antivirus software could be the problem.  So I am attempting to get permissions to have security add exception rules.  But if you have any other suggestions; please let me know.  Thanks!
