Creating multiple work /production orders from a multilevel BoM - AX-2012 R3

Hello,

I would like to know if it's possible to create multiple work /production orders from a multilevel BoM. To do this I was hoping to create a production order for the top level BoM and the sub-boms contained within automatically generate their own individual production orders.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Yes that is possible, they are referenced production orders. If your sub-BOM is an item then planning would create them if needed anyway, or the BOM line can be set to pegged supply (depends upon version) and then when you estimate the parent works order it creates all the related sub-works orders.

    Hi Steven,

Many thanks for your help, I am little confused as to where to apply the pegged supply? Do I add it to the sub boms or the top level bom on the project item requirements? If on the top level where do I select this?

    Thanks again

It is in the BOM. When you create the BOM you add the components, the components will include sub-BOM's if your structure is a complete parent rather than disparate parts. On the BOM line on the General Tab you have the BOM Line Type, set this to Pegged Supply.

Your mention of project item requirements was not in the initial post, so my response is for a straight created production order with a standard BOM. From a project it depends ultimately how you structure the BOM and reflect this in the project.
