Skills mapping in Talent

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi there

I am testing out the Talent application but do not find all the necessary information about relationships in the CDS (this is because Talent is only semi open I know).

How do the skills work in the application? I found how to add them, but do not find them when I try to add them to a review/goal.
I can only add measurements but no specific skills.

Is there a way to add the skills to goals/reviews? It seems only normal that in a review you discuss current skills of an employee.

Thanks

    Hi Jim,

I would open his skills list, discuss the levels with the employee and put it as an activity in the performance review. Another way would be to copy-paste the name of the skill in the competency area, but the employee would also have to update their skills based on this last discussion.

    regards,

    Nicu

    Thanks Nicu

I also read that skills would be available, might be in a later release when they finalise it.

How would you go around on scoring an employee his skills in a review?

Just write them in a review/open his skills when doing the reviewing and checking if they have improved?

    Thanks

    Hi Jim,

you cannot use skills in reviews and goals. In reviews you can only use competencies and goals.

skills are used on jobs, employees profiles, skills mapping etc.

Regarding CDS, in April Microsoft announced the availability of skills in CDS (this is different from Attract's skills and you can see the different entity names in CDS - one with msdyn and the other with CDM) - but I've just checked and the new entity is still not there. I've also checked it on What's new and it no longer shows up in there. In CDS you can only find Skills Type (from Core HR).

    regards,

    nicu
