Importing bootstrap into custom theme.

Following this guide https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/commerce/e-commerce-extensibility/theming I have imported bootstap las follows: $fa-font-path: 'https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.2.0/webfonts' !default;
@import "bootstrap/scss/bootstrap"; 

Bootstrap classes working fine on my local machine with locally installed sdk. However after I upload the package and deploy the bootstap is not working on my e-commerce site. What could be the problem?
