My team is developing several SSRS reports for a client. Most of the reports have similar headers (company name, date range, generation date/time, etc).
Is there a way to design it just once and just call that particular design from other SSRS reports?
This will really help in maintaining the reports. Currently, each report stand on its own and was worked on by different people. It had been a pain with the client frequently asking to change something in the headers and this means we have to go through each report to cascade the changes.
I am hoping there is a better way to do this. Looking forward to your recommendations.
Moved from Integration, Dataverse, and general topics forum.
I also think that report parts can't be used in F&O - that's an example of why I pointed out that we need to take the particular D365 product into account, not just SSRS as such.
I used subreports in Dynamics AX; I'm assuming it still works in F&O. When I quickly looked into AOT, I even found a standard report using a subreport (TaxWithholdCertificate -> TaxWithholdCertificatePaymSum).
I wouldn't expect much investment in features around SSRS. It rather goes to things like GER - see branding feature of configurable business documents, for instance. You could also consider document templates. To me, it feels like Microsoft is still looking for a good way of dealing with preciselly designed reports like invoices. Regarding analytical reports, they already have the tool: Power BI.
Hi Martin .. so silly of me not to mention D365. Yes, we are using D365 F&O. Thank you for suggesting the subparts. We were exploring that before but it does not seem possible to do it via the D365 environment.
Hi, Waed. That is what we are doing right now -- copy/pasting from one report but when changes come in, it is just a lot of work to update several reports.
Oh, well. I hope something like this can be improved in future versions of the platform.
Thank you both for your answers.

If we're talking about SSRS as such, you can use things like report parts and subreports.
But because this is a D365 forum, you may be limited to what the particular D365 product allow you to do. You should ask in the forum about your particular D365 product and if you have to use this general forum, you should always mention which D365 product(s) you're talking about.
As I know you can't, but you can create one template SSRS report and use as reference report, copy its parts(logo, header and data time) to other reports.
