Refreshing Target Fields After Adding New Fields

I have been searching for a solution to bring in newly added custom fields to a data entity  in D365 F&O but can't seem to find a solution so far. I have already tried refreshing the entities but still don't see my new fields in there. I can delete the data entity and refresh the list again which I know will work as it did in a test system, but problem is that we have data projects in production being used. To delete will mean we'll have to first remove the data entity from all those projects, refresh the data entity and then re-add/re-create data project and users will not like that idea.

Is there anything else we can think of that can be done to refresh a data entity without going through the exercise of deleting entity from projects?

Let me know please.

Thanks!

Raheel

Thanks Oleksandr - this worked! I'll remember doing this next time I add more fields.

Concur with Oleksandr Nazarov. By the way, the new field must be in the staging table for it to work. Adding them to the entity alone is too little.

You mean you have refreshed the entity list from data management framework parameters but you don't see the new field? You don't have to delete the entity from entity list to get the new column. Refresh entity list should populate the new column or just select the entity and click on Modify target mapping and then Generate mapping. And for data projects, you can click on view map inside the data project for that entity and add your new column if you don't want to re-add the entity. We have automated that process in case of republish or publishing a new entity.

If the field is added in entity then you just have to generate target mapping. Did you perform that action?

    Hi Raheel

You need to open the entities form, select your entity, click on "Modify target mapping" button, and then click on "Generate mapping" button.

    Hi Raheel Rao,

After you added new fields into table, you must create extension for DataEntity.

In the fields node of Data Sources of Data Entity, you can find newly fields that is entered in previous step.

Drag that field  and drop into Fields Node of Data Entity. See image below .
