Hi!

Exploring and learing about AI-capabilitites and new such features and find myself in need of filling lab environments with lots of fake/fictional data.

Has anyone tried extended the "sample data" quite dramatically to allow for buildig and trying out AI-features?
Looking for all sorts of tips, tricks and solutions that might help in how to actually setup environments with an entirely fictional operation, that also has years of fictional marketing transactions :)

Anyone heard of plans from microsoft to support the shiny new AI-doodads with extended sample data?

Best regards,

/ Jimmy

Good morning, afternoon, or evening – depending on where you are in the world!
This issue you are describing—needing large volumes of fictional data to explore AI capabilities in Customer Insights - Journeys—is a common challenge for teams experimenting with the platform’s newer AI-driven features.
As of now, Microsoft does not provide an officially extended sample dataset that includes years of fictional marketing transactions. However, there are several ways to simulate a rich, fictional environment:
Tips and tricks to build out fictional data environments:
    • Use Customer Insights - Data to unify and enrich data from multiple sources, including CSVs, CRM exports, or even synthetic data generators[1].
    • Leverage Azure Data Lake or Dataverse to import large volumes of mock data and connect it to Customer Insights - Journeys.
    • Create synthetic personas and transactions using tools like Power Automate, Python scripts, or third-party data generators to simulate years of marketing activity.
    • Use AI Copilot features to generate content, segments, and journeys based on your fictional data, helping you test personalization and automation scenarios [2].
    • Build dynamic segments and triggers that mimic real-world behavior using randomized attributes like loyalty status, engagement scores, or purchase history [1].
    What Microsoft is doing:
    • The 2025 release wave focuses heavily on Copilot and AI innovation, but there is no mention yet of expanded sample data sets [2].
    • Microsoft encourages using Customer Insights - Data to simulate and unify data from any source, which can then be used to fuel AI-driven journeys [1].
I teamed up with AI to respond the most accurately and efficiently.
