As far as I have understood in Dynamics NAV 2016, there is no connection between work centres/machine centres and resources? Am I right?
My problem is that I want to see the workload for a given employee.
I can assign that employee (resource) to a job and everything is fine. I can now see the workload generated from job (project) specific assignments.
I can create a machine centre, named the same as my employee above, and assign this machine centre (employee) work on a production order.
I cannot see a total workload for my employee, since there is no connection between the machine centre and resource. This is fine if you onlt use the manufacturing or project (jobs) module. But I use both. My employees sometimes work on projects, and sometimes on production orders in the workshop. The work around that is implemented now, is to have an item thats a work package, and adding this to the project for capturing consumption and hours. Anyone have a better solution?
If you don't get further responses to this issue, you may want to raise a support request to Microsoft support
did you get an answer from microsoft ? i too want to post resource cost to the production order.
You are correct. Manufacturing uses Machine Center/Work Center and Jobs uses Resources. The 2 do not cross for scheduling purposes. I would make 2 suggestions:
1. Consider talking to an ISV who has a Scheduling addon that possible can combine the 2 elements
2. Ask you Partner to create a custom Page for you that combines both
