we are currently using Navision 2016 in our Company. I am trying to convince our CEO to let me Update our ERP to BC14. I have a strong developer & Consulting Background in Navision.
The main issue is that he does not see any needs to this now and he wants to wait till 2026. We are already in the Extended support phase, and we never made any CU updates & we never used Microsoft support.
General Info about us:
How can I convince him that we have to do it? I know 100% this is the right thing to do, but I need more solid reasons
Thanks in Advance!
First of all i think that if you decide to do an upgrade you should not go to BC14 but to the latest available version. BC14 will soon be out of support so an upgrade to BC14 does not sound like a good idea.
But to convince to CEO that i don't know and with the little i know about his business is not so easy.
I think my focus would be on how you can utilize the investment Microsoft have put into the product and will continue to put into the product of the coming years. Making your users able to work more efficient and being able to grow your business with out necessarily having to hire more staff.
I would also focus on how the new versions are easier to maintain so that you do not accumulate as much technological debt that you have accumulated historically.
Hope those points can be of some help.
Hi, This may not be the answer you want, as Inge said, It is not recommended to upgrade to BC14 now. Although it was the last version to have a Windows Client and still retains C/Side. it will be end of life in Oct 14, 2025. And the new features that have been released in recent years are not available in BC14. For example, Correct Dimensions in General ledger entries.
I believe you can have more reasons to convince your CEO if you plan to upgrade to SaaS.
Hope this will help.
