Is NAV 2009 Compatible with Windows 11.0. Are there any known issues? Thanks
Nav 2009 is out of support so you will not get any official statement about the comparability with Windows 11.
So you should start to look into doing an upgrade to a supported version.
But maybe someone have some experiences with Nav 2009 and Windows 11.
Hi, I've used it on Windows 10 with no issues. (maybe for a short period of time)
I tried to find the System Requirement of NAV2009 in Microsoft Docs, but unfortunately I couldn't find it.
The following is the most complete version I found, so if you want to use NAV2009 stably, it is better to stay on Windows7.
Hope this will help.
Hi Jgallia@pirate53 ,
I am using NAV 2009 R2 with Windows 11. I found no compatibility issues. Please paste if there is any specific error.
Running NAV 2009 on Windows 11 has an error message [Internal error 101 in module 47].
Has anybody encountered that before and knows why it happens?
Thanks in advance.
I am running 2009 R2 in my system with Win 11, no problem, did you try to install?
It seems a language problem, it's OK when use [English] language to run NAV 2009,I replaced the fin.etx and fin.stx files in the CHT directory, and it has been executed normally. Thanks very much.
We were running NAV2009 SP1 on Windows11 without any issues for almost a year.
But now, the Windows 11 22H2 update seems to have broken something.
The NAV client (SQL) starts normally, you can do File>Database>Open and enter the server name, the database and your credentials, as before.
But then the client tries to connect and nothing happens. After 30 seconds, you get "The server could not be found".
This only happens on PC's that were updated from Win11 21H2 to 22H2.
Any similar experiences? Or better, any resolution for this problem?
I am having an issue connecting via RTC Client for NAV 2009 R2 on WIn11 recently.
It was previously working fine before.
The error is SSPI failed, see inner exception.
I suspect a windows update on my PC as well.
The RTC client works fine on Win 10 clients.
Have you been able to fix your issue?
No, unfortunately not.
It works fine on Windows 11 21H2, but no longer after the 22H2 feature update.
I managed to make NAV 2009R2 function correctly with Windows 11 22H2 by disabling credential Guard via GPO.
Thanks for your suggestion and glad to hear that it works for you.
You gave me hope, but unfortunately, it does not seem to solve our problems.
I was not running HyperV (it's disabled) and the Credential Guard setting was "Not configured". I changed it to "Disabled", but it made no difference.
Let's hope that Microsoft comes up with a patch or workaround...
Could you try disabling the virtualization based security completely? :
I had already tried that. I disabled both settings.
It didn't help unfortunately.
Yes, you can use in windows 11.
Can you confirm that it runs on Windows 11 22H2?
Because I had it running fine for a year in the initial release of Windows 11, but after the recent feature upgrade to 22H2, it stopped working.
Yes it is running. Run by using finsql.exe. Without any installation.
Hi, I tested it in my environment, 22H2 can't open NAV2009, but I don't have any problem in the virtual machine, maybe I am missing some components, but I think it may be better to use a virtual machine when you want to run stably.
Hope this helps.
I have been running Nav 2009 on Windows 11 since it came out.. no issues that I have found.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 is not officially supported on Windows 11. The highest version of Windows that is officially supported by Dynamics NAV 2009 is Windows 8.1.
While it may be possible to install and run Dynamics NAV 2009 on Windows 11, there may be compatibility issues and limitations that arise due to the differences in the operating system. These issues could impact the stability and performance of Dynamics NAV 2009, as well as potentially cause data corruption.
It is recommended that you upgrade to a more recent version of Dynamics NAV or Dynamics 365 Business Central that is officially supported on Windows 11 to ensure full compatibility and support from Microsoft.
I tested it on Windows 11 22H2 via VirtualBox. (Because I don't want to move to Windows11, I wait for Windows 12.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 with 22H2 Windows 11.
- fin.exe + Cronus Database
- finsql.exe + SQL Server 2016 + SQL Cronus Database
all you need to do is right-click the exe file, properties, and tick run this program to in compatibility mode to Windows 7.
for both fin.exe and finsql.exe .. do the same way.
Hope this help.
